Southern California Seminary is accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, effective 2001, as a Category I institution offering certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees; as a Category II institution offering four-year bachelor’s degrees; as a Category III institution offering master’s degrees, and as a Category IV institution offering doctorate degrees.

In the State of California, degree-granting authority comes from the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education. The BPPVE has granted SCS Institutional Approval to provide all of the degree programs and diplomas set forth in this catalog. The BPPVE is the regulatory agency for private postsecondary institutions in California. It is charged to encourage privately supported education, to protect the integrity of degrees and diplomas, and to ensure students’ opportunities for educational accomplishment and ability. Approved to operate means that the BPPVE has determined and certified that SCS meets minimum standards established by the bureau for integrity, financial stability, and educational quality, including the offering of bona fide instruction by qualified faculty and the appropriate assessment of student’s achievement prior to, during, and at the end of its programs.

Southern California Seminary's Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology meets the California Board of Behavior Science's educational requirements for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist in California. We advise potential students seeking licensure to contact the Board of Behavioral Sciences to get a complete listing of all requirements for licensure. Completion of the MACP degree program does not guarantee licensure.

The Doctor of Psychology degree at Southern California Seminary meets the educational requirement for licensure as a psychologist in the State of California. We advise potential students seeking licensure as a psychologist to contact the Board of Psychology in order to obtain a complete listing of all requirements for licensure. Completion of the Psy.D. degree program does not guarantee licensure.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) has approved SCS to provide eligible students with military education benefits. This program applies to our associates, bachelors and masters degree programs. Please contact the VA Office for more details.
