Behavioral Science Degree Programs

The Behavioral Science Department at Southern California Seminary is committed to preparing students for a career in counseling, teaching, and/or ministry in the field of psychology. Whether you wish to become a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Christian psychologist, or just to have more tools to work with people, we have a program to suit you.

Masters Degree program in Counseling: 

Earn your Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology (MACP) in preparation toward California Licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).

Courses in the Behavioral Science Department combine academic theory with practical application. Our faculty is made up of experienced professionals who are working in the counseling field and experts in the area they teach. Our one-night-a-week course schedule is designed to accommodate working adults.

Choose a degree with a long term effect. 

The Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at Southern California Seminary is approved by the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences and meets the academic requirements to be licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist or a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. The MACP degree program at SCS will prepare you to help people make better choices for their lives and will teach you professional counseling skills for a range of counseling situations. Graduates of this program have gone on to be counselors in private practice, government agencies, crisis facilities, hospitals, local churches, schools and many other counseling avenues. 

The Doctor of Psychology program (Psy.D.) degree (Psy.D.) program at Southern California Seminary is approved by the CA Board of Psychology and meets the academic requirements to be licensed as a psychologist in California. The course study is designed for Master level therapists (MFT and LPCC), and social workers, who believe that an advanced degree will broaden their understanding and improve their efficiency and value as professionals. The curriculum expands knowledge and proficiency in areas that include clinical therapeutic skills, psychological testing, assessment, supervision, research, diagnostic expertise, and psychopathology.
